Happy Spring race fans! This time of year is my favorite because there are lots of birds chirping outside the windows at home that I keep my eye on, and my owners Ashley and Dan like to open up the screen doors so there’s a nice breeze through the house and you know what that means…blowing curtains for me to attack! It’s a great time of year.

I recently got to be on ESPN2’s drag race morning show Race Day which airs Sunday mornings at 11am ET and I had a great time! Ashley and I got to the track early so she could get organized and freshen up. You know how girls are. They always have to primp and beautify and my race car driving ‘mom’ is no exception! She usually is covered in clutch dust with really bad helmet hair so it’s nice when she gets to clean up a bit. Of course I love her no matter what she looks like, and even if she smells like nitro! Plus I know not everyone can be naturally beautiful like cats are! Once we were ready we put our Castrol GTX uniforms on and headed to the stage.

I’m not one to be very shy. I’ll use the kitty litter even when someone else is in the restroom. I don’t mind spreading out on the couch even if it means everyone else in the house has no where to sit, and I love to show off for guests by jumping from the couch to the staircase and knocking down all of the CD’s. However I’ve never been on a stage before so I suddenly became a little nervous when we got to the Race Day set and saw the crowds of fans. I buried my head in Ashley’s arm but once people started petting me I relaxed a little and next thing you know I was purring! We sat down on the set and the film crew hooked a microphone to Ashley. They tried to hook one to me but there was nothing to hook it to! They said I’d just have to speak up! I can be pretty loud (I practice every morning by meowing at about 4am to wake up my owners) so I wasn’t worried!

Soon the cameras were rolling and the show started. They interviewed Ashley and I and asked us about growing up around racing, traveling each week, and what it’s like to drive over 300 mph! She answered most of the questions since I was busy checking out the table, the chairs and everything else on the set and smiling out at all the fans behind us who were taking pictures. It was a lot of fun and soon we said goodbye and climbed down off the stage and signed autographs and took pictures with fans. Since it was Sunday morning, Ashley had a long day ahead of her filled with warm ups, and race rounds and I had a busy schedule as well…lots of sleep! It was great to be on ESPN2 and to be a role model for all my 4 legged furry friends out there that a cat can be whatever he wants to be, including a race car kitty, if he works hard, is loveable to his owners and never stops purring!
