Simba and Gizmo’s July Blog

We are officially road kitties! We are so happy right now because we are on the road with Ashley and Dan and having the time of our lives in our El Monte RV! I knew right away, when I saw them taking clothes out of their closet and keeping them on hangers instead of placing them in the suitcase that we were going back in the RV because we did it last summer! It is so much fun because we get to go on the road with our owners, but instead of traveling in a Ford F150 truck, we get a huge RV to roam around in! There are lots of windows and hiding places and we get to be with our owners for 3 weeks straight! Gizmo was a little nervous because he didn’t understand what an RV was. He is still working on learning his alphabet mind you. But I told him not to worry and follow my lead and he’d be just fine!

We traveled from Orange County, CA straight north to Seattle, WA, as it was our first stop on the Western Swing, which is 3 west coast races in a row- Seattle, Sonoma and Denver. Seattle is beautiful with lots of trees! It was also my birthday weekend, along with Dan’s, Ashley’s mom Laurie’s, and sister Brittany’s birthdays, so we had a joint party one night in the RV. Ashley got up early to decorate and surprise everyone and Gizmo and I helped her blow up balloons and hang birthday banners. We were worn out at the end of all this decorating and took a little nap because, well, we deserved it! That night, all of the Forces came down and we yelled surprise and then celebrated together. Dan grilled hamburgers and turkey burgers and we traded gifts and just hung out. It was awesome! They even let us outside for a little bit to wander through the grass and sniff around! At the end of the night we got a birthday cake!! Since I’m a cat and all cats are lactose intolerant (didn’t know that, did you?) Ashley brought out our cat milk treat that Gizmo and I LOVE, so that we could have our dessert with the family. It was a very special night in the RV.

After the Seattle race we were off again, this time to Lake Tahoe, to spend a day with Ashley’s family. They took off for a while (I heard the word boating, but don’t know what that means) so Gizmo and I investigated the house, slept, wandered around, and slept some more! The next day we were on the road again, this time to Sonoma, CA. We parked up on the hill and had a great view of the track and every time Ashley would run we were in the window of the RV watching. I’m not telling stories! This is absolutely true. You can ask her! We did it in Seattle too! She saw us when she was driving by, up the return road! She thinks we are watching her run but let me let you in on a little secret. We only know it’s her car running because they are REALLLY loud and wake us up so we go to the front window to see what all the ruckus is! So far the Western Swing has been a lot of fun but we have many more days on the road, and Ashley has a couple of races to win! I’m proud to say that I’ve already been in TWO winner’s circles in my short lifetime- Courtney’s Seattle win and John’s Pomona win. But I’d really love to be in a winner’s circle with Ashley and D Team because they spoil us and we love them. Hey! We are the official D Team Mascots! -Simba

I LOVE the RV! It’s so much fun! Last night Simba and I climbed up in to the sink and pulled the little drain blocker out and brought it over and left it on the bed! Dan and Ashley were SO surprised this morning! -Gizmo
