Simba's World - John Force Racing

April 2010

Simba and Gizmo’s April Blog

We’ve had a very busy last few weeks and hope to get all of our wonderful race fans filled in and up to date on what this “purrfect pair” of drag racing kitties have been up to this month!

Our owners Ashley and Dan were home for a whole week and a half and it was wonderful. We spent a lot of time every evening grilling, and watching hockey and since Easter Sunday was that weekend there were lots of exciting activities taking place. Ashley and Dan spent Saturday afternoon painting eggs at home in the kitchen and had colored water everywhere! They did a whole carton of eggs, however they wouldn’t let us play with them. Instead, they brought out plastic eggs and we got to kick them around the house and have some fun. Plastic eggs are great! They are light to lift and toss around, yet they don’t roll right under the couch like our toy bouncy balls do!

After a few more days at home it was off to the races except this time, we got to go too! We loaded up our suitcase, toys and food and piled in the Ford F150 and headed north on the 15 freeway to Las Vegas. Once we got there it was straight to work. Gizmo and I are going to be featured on a future episode on Animal Planet! The show is called Cats 101 and every episode features a different type of cat. This show is about the wonderful and beautiful breed called American Bobtail…which we are! So they chose to come to the Las Vegas event and film us as race team mascots.

From the moment we drove in to the racetrack and up to the trailer we were working hard. The camera crew was there waiting for us and filming us as we unloaded the truck and set up our home in the lounge. They were with us for two days straight filming us and it was hard work! Do you know how hard it is to nap all day with a big fuzzy boom microphone hanging above you? Needless to say we did a lot of playing and not much sleeping. We also had to be very careful about any trouble we caused when Ashley and Dan were up racing, because obviously everything we were doing was being filmed. I decided not to remind Gizmo of this and let him get in to whatever he wanted. Ashley wasn’t very happy to see the trash spilled over when she got back from the run, but she couldn’t get mad because she was being filmed too!!

When all of the filming was finally finished it was time to get back to what we do best…team mascot-ing. We had a lot of teams to root for this weekend since our aunts Brittany and Courtney were also racing their A Fuel dragsters. It turned out to be a great day even though I heard Dan and Ashley saying that it was a very tricky track since it was so hot out. Gizmo and I wouldn’t know because we spent the day in the air conditioning! Ashley’s dad John ended up winning the race again and we got to go out and meet some of the fans that evening. I’d say Vegas turned out to be pretty luck for Team Force- though obviously Gizmo and I had a lot to do with that! That’s what the job of team mascot is- to bring luck and look cute! –Simba

My favorite part of the weekend was when I escaped the lounge and ran through the trailer! 8 crew guys chased after me! It was great! -Gizmo
